Besgrow Spagmoss – Premier Grade is a premium sphagnum moss substrate, sustainably harvested from the pristine wetlands on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Origin and Harvesting

Deep within the untouched wetlands fed by the Southern Alps, Sphagnum cristatum and Sphagnum subnitens thrive in their natural habitat. These species are carefully hand-picked from swamps dedicated to sphagnum farming. To preserve the delicate ecosystem, the harvested moss is airlifted by helicopter to processing facilities, minimising environmental impact and ensuring the sustainability of this renewable resource.

Processing and Quality Assurance

Upon arrival at the processing centre, the moss undergoes meticulous cleaning through both mechanical and manual methods to remove any foreign material. It is then naturally air-dried to maintain its structural integrity and optimal water-holding capacity. Throughout the production process, stringent quality control measures are in place to ensure that only the highest quality Spagmoss reaches our customers.
